Job description

We are seeking a professional Security and Investigation Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing both general security operations and investigative procedures such as internal theft, fraud, misconduct and policy violations.

The incumbent will be based at our Compass Medical Waste Services branch in Westmead, KwaZulu Natal but will oversee Security at our branches in Berlin (Eastern Cape), Blackheath (Western Cape), Clayville (Olifantsfontein, Gauteng) and Bloemfontein (Free State).

Required skills and Qualifications :

  • Matric or Grade 12 / NQF 4 learning ability.
  • Grade A PSIRA certification.
  • Completion of relevant investigation and security training programs.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in a security supervisory or investigation role.
  • At least 3-4 years supervisory or leadership experience in a security or investigative capacity.
  • Experience in conducting internal investigations (e.g. fraud, theft and workplace incidents).
  • Fully computer literate with the ability to formulate reports

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervise a team of security officers and / or investigators.
  • Plan and conduct internal investigations into incidents such as theft, misconduct or violations of company policy.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, gather evidence and interview witnesses or suspects,
  • Prepare detailed incident and investigation reports.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies when necessary.
  • Develop and implement security protocols and investigation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all investigations.
  • Ability to travel and stay away from home for short periods.

Technical Skills :

  • Proficient in surveillance systems, access control and incident management software.
  • Strong report writing, evidence handling and documentation skills.
  • Skilled in interviewing, interrogations, and investigative techniques.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills :

  • Ability to lead, train and motivate security and investigative staff.
  • Strong communication skills to work with employees, executives and law enforcement.
  • High attention to detail, discretion and confidentiality.

Behavioural Attributes :

  • Integrity, ethical judgment and professionalism.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and decisive during emergencies.

Legal and Regulatory Knowledge :

  • Familiarity with local laws and regulations related to security, investigations, privacy and labour.
  • Understanding of due process, chain of custody and rights of individuals during investigations.
