Job description

This leadership position is responsible for supporting all strategic endeavors across the International business unit, including but not limited to: development and delivery of strategic growth plans, leadership of select vertical market growth/transformation strategies, competitive analyses, strategy and planning coordination with internal partners, development of board materials and executive communications, participation in M&A due diligence and integration, and ongoing business management such as facilitating business reviews for the International President.

Dynamics of the Role

We are seeking a Director - Strategy and Planning for our International business. The role is ideally based in the Central / Eastern Standard time zones (Chicago / Bogota / Sao Paulo / Toronto), with location flexibility within markets where TransUnion has an office, given the hybrid nature of the role. TransUnion is expanding significantly, entering new markets and launching growth initiatives, leveraging capabilities from acquisitions like Neustar, Argus, and Sontiq. The Strategy and Planning team collaborates with senior leaders across regions and business lines, including Solutions, Operations, Finance, Technology, HR, and Marketing, to develop business strategies for existing and emerging markets.

How You’ll Contribute:

International overall strategy

  • Work closely with the International President, VP Strategy, and other leaders to drive the strategic agenda and vision.
  • Partner with the International President, CFO, and other stakeholders on the three-year planning process, helping to create strategies for the CEO and Board.
  • Act as a connector across International to identify pain points and success factors, collaborating to address issues and communicate success.
  • Support M&A efforts from diligence and integration to strategy development and value realization.
  • Create ad hoc strategic analyses for leadership.

Region and Vertical-specific strategies

  • Focus on the Americas (Canada, Latin America, Brazil), analyzing market opportunities and developing strategies for growth, market entry, organizational transformation, and operational efficiency.

Communication and presentation

  • Communicate the International strategy to stakeholders, ensuring understanding and alignment.
  • Develop communication content for leadership, including board materials.

Business operations and planning

  • Develop and coordinate strategy and planning processes across International.
  • Work effectively with key teams and external partners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Business strategy skills and experience:

  • Typically 6-10+ years of relevant experience, including strategy or business planning; experience in management consulting is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related; MBA preferred.
  • Comfort with financial analysis, project management, problem-solving, and business acumen; attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly understand industry and business concepts.
  • Knowledge of business functions, systems, and infrastructure; experience in regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus.

  • Excellent presentation skills for senior leadership.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively across levels.
  • Poised, self-assured, and comfortable in diverse interactions.
