Job Purpose

To help drive and deliver the reinsurance capability within Nedbank Insurance, including engagement with both internal and external clients, in line with Nedbank's Client Value Proposition. This role will focus on delivering reinsurance solutions across our life and short-term insurance product sets.

Job Responsibilities

1. Perform finance-related functions relating to reinsurance, including reporting, payments, claim recoveries, debt management, and debtor management.
2. Monitor reinsurance claims administration, including claim notification and facilitating recoveries.
3. Review reinsurance contracts and documents in accordance with Nedbank Insurance procedures and controls.
4. Assist with quarterly and annual SAM valuations from a reinsurance perspective.
5. Provide technical assistance on reinsurance, tenders, and treaty performance monitoring.
6. Improve and automate existing processes with a focus on risk management.
7. Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures, understanding their link from policy to process and system operations.
8. Develop and manage relationships with reinsurers through communication and networking, as per Nedbank Insurance's needs.
9. Review current reinsurance programs annually, evaluate alternatives, formulate options, and recommend changes.
10. Prepare reinsurance renewal market presentations and present to reinsurers.
11. Negotiate and arrange reinsurance placements (Treaty and Facultative).

People Specification

Essential Qualifications NQF Level

• Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
• Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

Degree in Accounting, Business Finance, or Actuarial Science
