About the job: Executive Head of New Business

Qualifications:

  • Matric exemption
  • Diploma / Degree in Business Management (knowledge of how a business operates)
  • Degree in Law (preferable)
  • Basic understanding of contract drafting & commercial law (beneficial)

Responsibilities:

  1. Foster a team approach to development within South Africa, Africa, and internationally.
  2. Develop, maintain, and execute a comprehensive strategic market plan for a defined territory, managing aggressive new store growth goals.
  3. Manage a defined territory, maintaining strong market knowledge, understanding coverage gaps, opportunities, trends, projected growth, competition, and other factors influencing real estate decisions.
  4. Manage a team of Area Real Estate Managers to identify potential sites for new restaurant development.
  5. Coordinate with Projects and Design teams to align with The Company Brand CI and brand equity.
  6. Conduct vision planning by analyzing market potential and individual restaurant performance.
  7. Assist in presenting site packages to management for approval.
  8. Coordinate development opportunities presentation to operators or strategic partners.

Manage Lease Agreements:

  1. Oversee legal team in site selection, feasibility studies, and lease negotiations.
  2. Develop checklists and processes for lease agreements involving multiple departments.
  3. Provide monthly reports on leasing and insurance expenses.
  4. Handle contractual breaches, lease terminations, and disputes.
  5. Manage store lease agreements documentation and access.

Manage Negotiations and Stakeholder Relations:

  1. Oversee negotiations for franchise sales and closures, ensuring legal compliance.
  2. Facilitate stakeholder payments and document management.
  3. Engage with creditors/debtors and ensure franchisee training.
  4. Develop processes for fee recoupment and legal recovery actions.

Manage Compliance Standards:

  1. Develop and monitor compliance frameworks and procedures.
  2. Promote compliance training and report levels to leadership and auditors.

Projects:

  1. Lead property expansion and franchise development strategies.
  2. Manage new franchise openings from property selection to launch.
  3. Oversee property development, stakeholder relationships, and cost efficiencies.
  4. Manage project timelines, risks, and legal projects, providing regular updates.
