Vestas Southern Africa operates and maintains 12 wind farms with a combined capacity of MW, currently recruiting a Service Technician (On-site based).

Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to all safety standards and procedures; act as a safety role model and promote safety culture.
  2. Identify safety gaps and risks, implement mitigation, and recommend improvements.
  3. Demonstrate integrity, safety focus, and quality; assist with or perform basic quality audits.
  4. Perform wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, operate tools, and document work (e.g., SAP).
  5. Gather and analyze turbine performance data; diagnose and troubleshoot issues, seek assistance for complex problems.
  6. Follow structured problem-solving processes and safety protocols.
  7. Support team environment, mentor juniors, and promote team spirit and continuous improvement.
  8. Interact with customers, respond to inquiries, and escalate complex issues.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or equivalent with minimum 1-year wind industry experience, or 6 months plus Wind Technician certification, or 3 years related hydraulic, electrical, mechanical experience.
  • Trade tested in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • Proficient with power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols (e.g., Confined Space, energy isolation).
  • Valid Driver's License; ability to obtain Passport.
  • Attention to detail, computer skills, ability to interpret schematics.
  • Physical ability to climb, lift, walk, and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Fluent in English, able to participate in training, and work in demanding conditions.
