Job Overview

UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. The main purpose of the job is to investigate, diagnose, and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of vehicles and machinery according to the maintenance requirements on a shift basis.


Responsibilities And Duties
Maintenance
  • Ensure the achievement of Key Performance Indicators such as plant availability, mean time to repair, mean time between failure, PM adherence, action completion, and Kaizen creation and completion.
  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance and Jobcard tasks timely.
  • Maintain optimal machine and mechanical tools availability.
  • Resolve functional failures and breakdowns on production equipment.
  • Proactively identify hardware and mechanical breakdowns using departmental/machine systems and pre-PM inspection checklists.
  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Ensure machine ownership by checking and maintaining equipment to be fit for purpose.
  • Implement and execute maintenance initiatives and programs.
  • Review maintenance task lists for value addition and recommend new tasks for equipment.
  • Compile daily shift handover reports and communicate with the maintenance engineering team.
  • Work safely, adhering to PPE requirements for specific tasks.
  • Report work details in SAP/Syspro-PM upon completion.
  • Perform shaping and fabrication of parts and equipment.
  • Inspect pressure vessel equipment and adhere to safety standards for hot work, gases, and pressurized vessels.
  • Maintain the 5S standard before, during, and after shifts.
  • Weld on various equipment and metals, including mild steel and stainless steel.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces with proper permits and risk assessments.
  • Apply LOTTO for work in progress where applicable.
  • Load and offload heavy equipment and materials using forklifts and cherry pickers.
  • Update spares inventory to prevent waste or unavailability.
Improvements
  • Investigate and implement machine/mechanical improvements to enhance quality and production output.
  • Introduce quick and standardized Kaizens.
  • Engage proactively with operators to promote Kaizens.
  • Provide input into spares requirements for the business unit.
Business Unit
  • Support all other business unit partners.
  • Maintain clear and open communication.
  • Promote teamwork and active participation in problem-solving.
  • Communicate deviations to maintenance engineering for process improvements.
  • Attend handover meetings with other artisans, team leaders, or section engineers and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the maintenance engineer within the department.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • Trade test qualified: Boiler maker.
  • Knowledge and experience of basic electrical skills.
  • Understanding of LOTTO systems.
  • Experience with overhead machinery, lifting tackle, and equipment.
  • Experience with various welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Valid Cherry Picker and Forklift licenses.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an artisan post-trade.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing or automotive experience.
