Job description

This role plays a key part in shaping the businesses data department’s strategic operating model. The role holder must demonstrate strong technical skills and be responsible for end-to-end design and implementation within the business-wide Datawarehouse solution from requirements gathering and analysis, ETL design and Development, Datawarehouse design and build, through to Power BI Dashboard/Reporting development and implementation.

Salary: R40 000 - R45 000 per month. This role is on site in Durban, so must be living in Durban at time of application

Duties:

• Manage and deliver ETL development using SSIS, in accordance with relevant processes and quality requirements

• Develop, implement and optimise SQL queries, procedures, functions, views, triggers

• Test, deploy and maintain SQL projects and fixes in line with best practice

• Follow departmental development lifecycle and release process for production implementations and fixes

• Produce reports and dashboards using Power BI, reviewing and validating data to ensure reports and dashboards are accurate

• Create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs or available data elements, providing consultation to users and leading cross-functional teams to address business issues

• Drive continuous improvement

• Support business users in adopting and engaging with data department outputs

Experience:

• Minimum 3 -5 years’ experience as SQL Developer or similar role

• Excellent understanding of ETL concepts, Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL programming

• Experience in developing visualisations using Power BI

• Demonstrable understanding of the concepts for designing and implementing data warehouse solutions

• Critical thinker with problem-solving skills

• Experience with cloud technologies and data science approaches would be advantageous.

• Contact centre experience preferred.
