Job description

Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus an appropriate qualification that allows registration as an independent Practitioner. No experience required after registration as a Medical Registrar. Must have completed Post Community Service. Registration with HPCSA for the financial year 2025/26. The successful candidates will be rotated between institutions. The following will be added advantages: Work experience in the field of Family Medicine; CMSA part 1 examinations; auxiliary courses relevant to the field of Family Medicine.

Duties :

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for rendering clinical services at Primary Health facilities in line with the specific training curriculum of the Family medicine department. This includes assessment and treatment of patients, supervision of undergraduate MBChB students, and participation in departmental activities related to teaching and research. They will also participate in departmental audits and report writing. The Registrar will rotate across various hospital complexes, community health centers, and clinics as part of outreach programs aligned with the departmental curriculum. Additional responsibilities include administrative duties and performing any other functions as required by Clinical Facility Managers. The candidate must be willing to work longer hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure continuous patient care.

  • These positions are joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and academic institutions such as the University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
