Our client based in Johannesburg is seeking a Quality Supervisor to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the laboratory to ensure adequate and timeous support to the proper functioning of the Unit and to meet certification requirements.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General management of the Quality Laboratory to ensure effective and adequate support to the internal departments and clients as well as to achieve desired Quality KPI’s and Certification.

Audit and Verification Activities
Complaints and non-conformity support
Service providers support
Internal training
Document review
Budget and stock management
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
Management of human resources inherent to the proper functioning of the lab (schedules, leave, timesheets)
Monthly stock takes and stock management
Expenses tracking in line with the budget
Management of the equipment calibration programs inherent to the proper functioning of the lab
Management of the working environment inherent to the proper functioning of the lab
Maintenance of the lab procedures and processes
Lab operator training according to FSSC requirements
Other training activities as indicated by the superior
Timeous planning and execution of external analysis plans according to plan
Verification and organization of external test results
Management of corrective action activities
Retention sample management
Opening and closure of internal non-conformities
Complaints investigations
Shelf life extensions
Audits (GMP, Hygiene, PRP, other)
Management of sensory analysis
Management of raw materials approval process
Management of the final product approval process
Management of the QC related paperwork
Management of Expedition Quality Control
Management of QC checklists to ensure compliance
Taking initiative to maintain, improve verification and corrective action activities
Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety conditions to ensure a safe working environment (chemicals handling, heavy and moving equipment, noise, heat, etc)
QEFS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Know the environmental impacts and the environmental responsibilities associated with the tasks performed, to contribute to the good environmental performance of the Organisation.
You will be responsible for food safety within the scope of your work that you perform. If any food risks or concerns are noted, report it to your direct line manager immediately.
Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness of the workplace.
Knowledge of allergen management principles.
Controlling of hazard control verification plan.
Follow QMS.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry out any related instruction from management.
Follow all Company policies and procedures and familiarize yourself with these.
Assisting others in case of need.
Qualifications and Experience:
Supervise and/or management experience in Quality Laboratory field.
Suitable qualifications related to Food Safety and Quality (HACCP/FSSC 22000).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Laboratory work in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
Microbiology background preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
MS Office.
Quality management software.
