Quality Supervisor

Our client based in Johannesburg is seeking a Quality Supervisor to join their team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the laboratory to ensure adequate and timeous support to the proper functioning of the Unit and to meet certification requirements.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General management of the Quality Laboratory to ensure effective and adequate support to the internal departments and clients as well as to achieve desired Quality KPI's and Certification.

3. Laboratory Processes Management
4. Audit and Verification Activities
5. Complaints and Non-conformity Support
6. Service Providers Support
7. Internal Training
8. Document Review
9. Budget and Stock Management

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

1. Management of human resources inherent to the proper functioning of the lab (schedules, leave, timesheets)
2. Monthly stock takes and stock management
3. Expenses tracking in line with the budget
4. Management of the equipment calibration programs inherent to the proper functioning of the lab
5. Management of the working environment inherent to the proper functioning of the lab
6. Maintenance of the lab procedures and processes
7. Lab operator training according to FSSC requirements
8. Other training activities as indicated by the superior
9. Timeous planning and execution of external analysis plans according to plan
10. Verification and organization of external test results
11. Management of corrective action activities
12. Retention sample management
13. Opening and closure of internal non-conformities
14. Complaints investigations
15. Shelf life extensions
16. Audits (GMP, Hygiene, PRP, other)
17. Management of sensory analysis
18. Management of raw materials approval process
19. Management of the final product approval process
20. Management of the QC related paperwork
21. Management of Expedition Quality Control
22. Management of QC checklists to ensure compliance
23. Taking initiative to maintain, improve verification and corrective action activities
24. Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety conditions to ensure a safe working environment (chemicals handling, heavy and moving equipment, noise, heat, etc)

QEFS RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Know the environmental impacts and the environmental responsibilities associated with the tasks it performs, to contribute to the good environmental performance of the Organisation.
2. You will be responsible for food safety within the scope of your work that you perform. If any food risks or concerns are noted, report it to your direct line manager immediately.
3. Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness of the workplace.
4. Knowledge of allergen management principles.
5. Controlling of hazard control verification plan.
6. Follow QMS.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Carry out any related instruction from management.
2. Follow all Company policies and procedures and familiarize yourself with these.
3. Assisting others in case of need.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Supervise and/or management experience in Quality Laboratory field.
2. Suitable qualifications related with the focus on Food Safety and Quality (HACCP/FSSC).
3. N.Dip Food Technology/Microbiology/Biotechnology preferred.
4. Experience in and/or qualifications training.
5. Minimum 3 years' experience in Laboratory work in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
6. Microbiology background preferred.
7. Supervisory experience preferred.
8. MS Office.
9. Quality management software.
10. Organised, Analytical thinker, Driven, hard worker, Clear and effective communicator, passionate about continuous improvement, problem solver, Professional reporting style, team player, Attention to detail, ability to prioritize.
