Accountant

Location: Roodepoort

Description: The above-mentioned position is vacant within the Specialised Services division reporting to the Financial Manager. The overall purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all Financial Policies and Procedures as well as ensuring that the Branch contributes to the financial well-being of the Group.

Key Performance Areas:
  1. Assisting the Finance Team with reconciliations, memos, accounts payable, general office, and admin queries when requested.
  2. Preparing and clearing bank reconciliations and submitting to Head Office.
  3. Preparing and submitting accruals and reversals monthly.
  4. Ensuring all costs are captured in the relevant month / for cost control.
  5. Preparing and processing journals and assisting with month-end processes.
  6. Assisting with MOS reviews to ensure correct and timely capturing.
  7. Scrutinizing all GL accounts for accuracy.
  8. Providing financial assistance and support to operational staff.
  9. Assisting the Finance Manager with weekly reports to Head Office (e.g., Transport, Payroll, Claims, Price Increases, Credit Control).
  10. Ensuring all Policies and Procedures are followed for audit purposes.
  11. Supervising and monitoring cashbook, petty cash, and creditors functions.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Tertiary CA or Financial Degree (advantageous).
  • At least 5-8 years' experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of General Accounting.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Ability to work weekends and travel when required.
  • Experience in the security or service-related industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong administration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Numerical accuracy and methodical working methods.
  • Strong planning, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of SAP.
