Job Summary
The Data Management and Governance team within the Chief Analytics Office (CAO) provides a central data management service to the organization. This role involves defining and overseeing the implementation of capabilities that enable these services and coordinating their adoption across the organization. Additionally, the role will drive change and communication plans with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Description
- Define and oversee the execution of the EDM Strategy.
- Create a comprehensive EDM adoption plan to accelerate value realization from EDM initiatives.
- Develop a prioritized roadmap supporting the EDM Strategy, including capabilities, enablement, internal planning, funding, and resourcing for change initiatives.
- Maintain a detailed EDM portfolio delivery plan aligned with the strategy, covering scope, prioritization, schedule, resources, risk, and budget, in coordination with the CAO Head of Change.
- Manage the end-to-end execution of all projects within the EDM portfolio.
- Advise business teams and projects on how the department can support their needs and assess their readiness for adoption.
- Develop and implement a Change Management Strategy, including communication and stakeholder engagement, working closely with business and IT leaders.
- Maintain an EDM service catalogue and empower the CAO Business Engagement team to advise their counterparts on available services and tools.
- Track and report on EDM portfolio delivery, benefits, and value realization.
- Provide executive reports on EDM initiatives to compliance and management forums, including board sub-committees.
Skills & Experience
- Experience with enterprise data management (data quality, reference data, metadata, data governance) is preferred.
- BSc in Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related diploma.
- Certifications in data management or governance and familiarity with bodies of knowledge like DAMA are advantageous.
- Experience in the Financial Services Industry.
- At least 5 years’ experience in compliance, risk, or data roles.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project, program, and portfolio management.
- Proven success in stakeholder and change management.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying data insights to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
- Commercial acumen in strategy, change, and communication outcomes.
- Leadership and collaboration skills.
- Exposure to data regulatory initiatives like BCBS239 or POPIA, and data security and retention initiatives, is advantageous.
- Fundamentals of risk management, preferably in enterprise data management and project delivery contexts.
Education
Bachelor’s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies are required.
