NOV South Africa is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector. As a QC Inspector, you will play a key role in checking components against relevant documented specifications while balancing cost-effectiveness and quality control. You will ensure that the equipment used is appropriate for the product, and the correct programs are developed, stored, selected, and used to generate accurate reporting content.

As a QC Inspector, you will ensure that products are processed in a timely and accurate manner, providing reports in accordance with the production schedule. You will collaborate with the inspection team, encouraging open discussions on component deficiencies, safety, and quality, and make recommendations to improve processes, methods, and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret or evaluate inspection measurements according to applicable specifications or procedures, including incoming material, consumables, and inserts.
  • Perform welding and NDE inspection.
  • Conduct receiving inspections from vendors (where applicable).
  • Perform in-process inspections (1st offs and roaming inspections).
  • Conduct dimensional inspections, including D&I (where applicable).
  • Perform visual inspections.
  • Conduct hardness testing.
  • Verify welding consumable certifications and welder performance qualifications (WPQ) where applicable.
  • Sign off each job stage as required by detailed work instructions, QAPs, and shop packets; review heat treatment charts.
  • Report and escalate anomalies to relevant departments.
  • Perform final inspection and prepare inspection reports.
  • Raise and process NCRs, determining appropriate actions using available data.
  • Support wider inspection functions as needed.
  • Determine effective inspection methodologies and recommend process changes.
  • Review and sign-off inspection reports.
  • Ensure QC reports are uploaded to the DMS with correct case numbers and naming conventions, and are released appropriately.
  • Review and sign-off ERN and job files when required.
  • Request costing and issue move tickets for completed items post-ERN.
Qualifications
  • Dimensional measurement capabilities.
  • Certified Level II in NDE disciplines (MT, PT, UT).
  • Level II Welding Inspector certification.
Experience
  • Experience in dimensional, NDT, and welding inspection.
  • Ability to sign off on each job stage as per detailed work instructions, with competence in reading engineering drawings, customer specifications, and work instructions.
Skills and Competencies
  • Availability for shift work and local/international travel.
  • Knowledge of standards, codes, and specifications.
