Head of Finance

My client seeks a Head of Finance to join their Non-Profit entity, which empowers South Africans to collaborate internationally to enhance educational outcomes for vulnerable students.

As this is a new role in the organisation, it is being appointed as a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As the successful incumbent, you will drive financial sustainability, manage finances, oversee risk, and support strategic decisions.

You will have the ability to optimize performance, ensure compliance, and enhance profitability.

You will lead a small team, reporting to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the organisation's long-term financial health and sustainability.
  2. Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to senior leadership.
  3. Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
  4. Manage relationships with financial partners, including banks, investors, and donors, to secure financing and support organisational growth initiatives.
  5. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and best practices in financial management.
  6. Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Qualified CA(SA) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a professional commercial environment.
  • Thorough understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Excellent spreadsheet and data management skills.
  • Proven track record of success in financial planning, analysis, and management in a complex organisational environment.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Experience in the education sector is advantageous.
  • Experience with the Apple ecosystem, specifically using a MacBook and MacOS, is ideal.
  • Comfortable working in a remote/hybrid environment.
  • Applicants must be available and willing to commit to a 12-month fixed-term contract.
