Requirements

• Grade 12 plus an appropriate qualification allowing registration as an independent Practitioner.
• No experience required after registration as a Medical Registrar.
• Must have completed Post Community Service.
• Registration with HPCSA for the 2025/26 financial year.
• The successful candidate will be rotated between various institutions.
• Advantages include: Work experience in General Surgery, CMSA Part 1 examinations, auxiliary courses relevant to General Surgery.

Duties

• Deliver Surgery services to patients, perform various surgical procedures.
• Supervise and teach medical interns and undergraduate students.
• Attend departmental meetings such as morbidity and mortality, near miss, and complete medico-legal documents timely.
• Improve quality of care and reduce litigation through good clinical practice.
• Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards.
• Perform practical procedures relevant to Surgery.
• Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, and lectures.
• Work longer hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure continuous patient care.

• Positions are joint appointments with the Gauteng Department of Health and institutions like the University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
