POSITION INFO : Driver Supply Chain
Accountable for operation of own work area or as a member of a team, as well as for quality, standards and outputs within defined work routines and policies.
Job Purpose
To ensure delivery of stock to Customers according to the planned delivery schedule, while ensuring superior levels of customer service, aligned to the Company's standards and business ethics within the bounds of the law.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
- Manage and control the delivery process from end-to-end
- Prepare for next day's deliveries
- Adhere to the start-up procedure
- Ensure independent driver checks of truck stock are conducted in full and signed accordingly
- Travel to the Customer following the defined route and delivery schedule
- Carry out the delivery of stock
- Return to the depot within specified timeframe
- All documentation to be signed, consolidated and returned in full
- Demonstrate superior customer service levels during deliveries
- Be respectful and courteous to Customers and Consumers
- Keep Customers informed about their receiving process and progress in off-loading
- Maintain constant contact with the Distribution Controller / Expeditor for feedback and updates
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment
- Comply with safety and health policies, procedures, and legislation
- Complete Pre-Trip Inspections before every trip and communicate non-compliance items
- Practice Green Band driving at all times
- Follow Truck Lock Out procedures during loading
- Comply with all traffic rules and safety regulations
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation
Adherence to Food Safety Requirements
- Commit to The Beverage Company's Food Safety policies and objectives
- Understand and implement all food safety requirements
- Enforce Food Safety Policies, SOPs, and PRPs
- Follow PPE requirements and personal hygiene standards
- Engage actively in all training and competency testing
- Practice hand washing and sanitising regularly
- Prevent cross-contamination and avoid allergens in manufacturing facilities
- Report food safety risks and illnesses to relevant personnel
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety practices
- Collaborate with internal food safety teams to retain GFSI certification
- Ensure zero compromise on product quality and safety
Additional Responsibilities
- Accurate vehicle checking, loading, and unloading
- Conduct independent load checks for correctness
- Record returns accurately
- Maintain effective communication with Warehouse Supervisor and team
- Utilise technological solutions fully and support minimum operating requirements
- Be familiar with relevant policies, processes, and procedures
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4, Code 14 Drivers License, PDP (Essential)
- Up to 3 years experience in operational execution within FMCG
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and relationship management
- Ability to communicate verbally in a logical and professional manner
- Ability to interpret complex information and make holistic decisions
