Job description

Role Overview:

The Section Leader role is non-hierarchical. You will relay the EPU Manager's directives and act as a referent for the Autonomous team, ensuring achievement of SQCDP objectives, fostering continuous improvement, and maintaining team cohesion. You will be responsible for daily short-term team management, facilitating 5-minute meetings, and maintaining regular communication with the EPU to escalate urgent matters.

Main Responsibilities:

EHS
  • Ensure application of start-up checklists by the team.
  • Implement precautionary measures for issues identified during start-up, especially during staggered hours.
  • Manage traceability of EHS deviations, ensure timely updates, and escalate issues (e.g., EHS cross, PDCA, PPE).
  • Alert and mitigate immediate risks related to safety concerns.
  • Participate in updating the PGI.
  • Respect, comply with, and apply all EHS rules.
Costs
  • Monitor operation and information flow via AOS, ensuring 100% connection and accurate work order status.
  • Propose solutions when SQCD performance targets are not met.
Time Management
  • Ensure daily progress of schedules and timely rotations, interfacing with AOS where applicable.
Quality
  • Address first-level quality concerns raised by team members.
  • Coordinate with support functions to resolve quality issues based on analysis.
  • Follow up on discrepancy treatments and ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct pre-rotation checks post-job completion.
  • Manage parts availability for IQ inspections and flag non-compliance.
  • Close rework and snag issues before next workstation rotation.
  • Identify and escalate line blocking points or defects in MES/AOS.
  • Report quality issues to the Work Centre Manager if unresolved by the team.
  • Ensure adherence to work instructions, processes, and safety protocols.
Continuous Improvement
  • Implement job rotation within the autonomous team.
  • Ensure seamless handovers of tasks.
  • Propose and implement 5S and Kaizen continuous improvement actions.
People Supervision
  • Supervise daily activities, address concerns, and escalate issues promptly.
  • Report employee matters to the Work Centre Manager.
  • Lead team actions and coordinate with support functions for improvements.
  • Facilitate team meetings and communication.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified artisan (Welder, Boilermaker, Spray Painter - Red Seal).
  • Multi-skilled, competent in 50% of EPU assemblies.
  • Mentoring skills at “U” level in 50% of assemblies.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of Alstom processes and welding/boilermaking/painting imperfections.
  • Strong safety awareness and English proficiency.
  • Agile, inclusive, responsible mindset; resilient with a “CAN DO” attitude.
  • Safety-conscious and a safety ambassador.
  • Conscientious, team-oriented, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
