Job description

Take the next step in your accounting career with a dynamic, client-facing role!

Is this you?

You're an experienced Accountant who thrives in a client-facing role, with a strong background in managing financial accounts in an accounting practice. You're detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, while also mentoring junior staff. You enjoy problem-solving, have excellent communication skills and take pride in delivering high-quality financial reports and advisory services. You're comfortable managing multiple accounts, meeting deadlines, and ensuring compliance with IFRS for SMEs and VAT regulations.

What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it)

You'll manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Your key responsibilities will include preparing and submitting management accounts, overseeing monthly accounting functions on Xero, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with VAT computations. You'll work closely with the Finance Director, collaborating on annual audits, tax requirements, and financial strategy. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior bookkeepers, ensuring compliance with best practices, and identifying areas for process improvement. This is an opportunity to engage directly with clients, contribute to financial decision-making, and make a meaningful impact within the organisation.

Where you'll be doing it

Our client is a well-established international firm providing accounting, tax, and business advisory services to multinational clients. Their office is in Bryanston, their hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Fridays till 3pm. There is one day work from home. The company fosters a professional yet supportive environment, valuing autonomy and continuous learning. You'll work with a lovely bunch of about 20 colleagues but they all know how to knuckle down and get work done. They deliver high quality work for their clients with constant deadlines.

What you'll need

To be considered, you must have a recognised accounting qualification, ideally as an AGA (SA) or Professional Accountant (SAIPA). We'd be willing to consider someone fresh out of articles but ideally we're looking for someone with some additional experience in an accounting practice. A solid understanding of IFRS for SMEs, VAT regulations, and financial reporting is essential. You should have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

What you'll get

You'll receive a competitive salary, with additional benefits including SAICA membership fee coverage if you're a member, a cellphone allowance, a possible discretionary annual 13th cheque, and a possible top-up bonus of up to 50% of one month's salary based on performance. You'll also enjoy 18 days of leave, study leave if pursuing a relevant qualification, and the opportunity to grow in a globally connected financial firm.
