Job description

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Electrician based in Gqeberha.

Overview of the role :

Responsible for the maintenance and servicing of all plant machines and electrical equipment. The incumbent may at times be required to fabricate new equipment or modify existing equipment. They may also perform functions outside the defined scope, provided they are trained for such tasks.

Purpose of the role :
  • Address all electrical repairs and breakdowns promptly.
  • Advise the Engineering Team Leader on faults to ensure minimal disruption to production and delivery schedules.
  • Focus on electrical panel upgrades and project management of new installations.
  • Standardize all PLC systems and wiring across production lines to support automation goals.
  • Be on 24-hour standby to assist during emergency breakdowns.
  • Conduct on-the-spot repairs and assist in related tasks as needed.
  • Provide training for workshop assistants.
  • Use rigging equipment when lifting or installing heavy plant equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the work environment.
  • Possess experience with AC and DC motors and drives, Siemens TIA, and PLC troubleshooting.

The role requires working independently with minimal supervision and collaborating with various department managers.

Education :

Minimum NTC3 certificate with electrical as a core subject. Minimum of 5 years' experience in an electrical workshop. Qualified Electrician.

  • Initiative-taker with a willingness to learn through on-the-job experience.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with plant personnel and management.
