An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Health Information Manager to join the teams at Hunter Valley Private Hospital as the Health Information Services Manager. The Health Information Services Manager is responsible for leading, directing, and developing the Health Information and Clinical Coding Services at Hunter Valley Private Hospital.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83-bed facility offering a variety of surgical, medical, and rehabilitation services. It is located on the fringe of Newcastle, close to beaches, the Hunter Valley, vineyards, and the university.

In this position, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing the Health Information Service, including all aspects of medical record management, records maintenance, archiving, and destruction.
  • Providing timely and accurate clinical coding data using ICD10AM 12th edition, and collecting and reporting data for clinical indicators, research, service evaluation, NSW Health, Health Funds, and other agencies.
  • Providing education and analysis of clinical coding and casemix information.
  • Coordinating responses to medicolegal and other requests for patient information.
  • Ensuring compliance with mandatory data reporting requirements.
  • Participating in performance improvement activities.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent).
  • Strong clinical coding skills with the ability to train and mentor coding staff, current 12th Edition.
  • Experience leading and managing staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Experience with webPAS patient administration system.

Previous Private Hospital experience.

Knowledge of private sector funding models.
