Job Description
As a Business Development Manager, you are a driven self-starter who will play a crucial role in driving sales growth and expanding the market presence in Africa / South Asia. Your responsibilities include developing and executing strategic sales plans, building strong relationships with digital healthcare innovators, and growing revenue through effective sales strategies and customer engagement.
Qualifications include at least 5 years of experience in B2B sales, with a strong preference for experience in healthcare technology or software sales. A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Management, or a related field is required; an MBA or equivalent is a plus.
You should have an understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing digital health technologies, including data protection, intellectual property, and licensing. Up-to-date knowledge of digital health technologies, electronic medical records (EMR), regulatory environments, industry trends, business models, and scientific advancements is essential. The ability to apply this knowledge to ensure strategies, recommendations, and project outcomes are current and compliant is vital.
A strong foundational knowledge of information technology, including networks, hardware, software, and cloud computing, is necessary. Experience working with health systems and payers on digital transformation topics, along with in-depth knowledge of healthcare systems, EMR, and software solutions, is required. Secondary experience in a SaaS or platform-based, fast-paced, hyper-growth startup environment is preferred.
Expertise in commercial activities, client services, and partnerships is essential, with prior consulting experience being advantageous. A strong understanding of the public and private healthcare sectors in Africa and/or South Asia is important. Proven experience in developing and executing comprehensive health strategies is required.
Strategy Development:
Lead the development of health innovation strategies, including identifying opportunities for digital health technologies and creating detailed strategic plans tailored to client needs.
Client Relationships and Business Development:
Build strong relationships with foundational customers, working closely with them to outline long-term health assurance and business goals. Support team leadership in rolling out systems and procedures to identify, engage, and develop strategic partnerships. Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing, ensuring a high conversion rate. Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to prospective clients, showcasing features and capabilities.
Market and Industry Analysis:
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities. Conduct comprehensive market analyses, competitive landscape assessments, analysis of care pathways, scientific literature reviews, and technology scouting to identify emerging trends, potential partners, and innovative solutions in digital health.
Go-to-Market Strategy:
Develop and implement commercialization and GTM strategies for digital health innovations, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and market needs.
Client and Partner Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, key opinion leaders, and ecosystem partners. Collaborate with clients and digital healthcare innovators to understand their needs and align innovation strategies accordingly. Provide consultative support, including product demonstrations, presentations, and customized solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with marketing to develop targeted campaigns, sales collateral, and events to support lead generation and client engagement. Collaborate with product and technical teams to incorporate customer feedback into product development and tailor solutions. Partner with customer support to ensure a seamless post-sale experience and high customer satisfaction.
Experience and Skills:
Minimum 5 years in business development, sales, or related roles, with expertise in B2B sales, marketing, negotiation, and lead generation. Proficiency with CRM software such as Salesforce, and experience in account and territory management, is required.
