Scrum Master position available in Cape Town.
We are seeking a highly experienced Scrum Master to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Agile delivery, software development environments, and stakeholder engagement.
You will be responsible for guiding multiple Agile teams in the effective implementation of Scrum and other Agile methodologies, ensuring successful delivery of products and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support and guide multiple development teams (3 or more) in adopting and maturing Agile practices.
- Work closely with Product Owners to manage backlogs, refine stories, and plan sprints.
- Help teams track performance, manage deliverables, and achieve sprint goals.
- Identify and resolve obstacles that impact team performance or delivery timelines.
- Coach team members in Agile principles and ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain transparency and communication across technical teams and stakeholders.
- Facilitate program increment (PI) planning workshops where applicable.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on team progress and delivery status.
- Champion a collaborative, respectful, and high-trust environment.
- Mentor other Scrum Masters to promote Agile best practices across the organisation.
- Manage and enhance reporting and metrics across multiple teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share knowledge and drive Agile maturity.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5–10 years of experience as a Scrum Master in a technology or software development environment.
- Proven ability to manage and coach multiple Agile teams simultaneously.
- Hands-on experience in implementing Agile practices at team and organisational level.
- Strong facilitation and servant leadership skills with a collaborative approach.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile reporting tools.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban).
- Track record of successfully guiding teams through Agile transformations.
- Ability to foster a safe and trusting environment to support team growth and performance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including stakeholder reporting and updates.
Education & Certifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Business, or related field (advantageous).
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification (mandatory).
- Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) or SAFe certification (advantageous).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in complex or scaled Agile environments.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and other Agile toolsets.
- Exposure to Lean principles and organisational agility beyond team level.
- Agile coaching or mentorship experience.
