CAREER OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity exists for a Commercial Underwriter to join the Underwriting Department.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing their broker portfolio.

This role reports to the Commercial Underwriting Manager and involves participation in strategic and operational activities.

The position is based in Centurion.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional client service that exceeds customer expectations through proactive, innovative, and appropriate motor assessment processes.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of various Commercial products.
• Understand Commercial Lines product requirements.
• Work with various insurers covering Commercial products, Agriculture, Engineering, and Hospitality sectors.
• Understand how the Commercial Lines Industry operates, including trends like Auto Rating.
• Translate product requirements into system functionality, including data capture, validation, and calculations like minimums, maximums, and accumulations.
• Be proactive in investigating and learning new skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Qualifications:

• Matric certificate is essential.
• FAIS Credits as per FAIS requirements.
• Must be Fit & Proper according to the FAIS Act.
• Regulatory Exam: Representatives.
• Must not be debarred by FSCA.

• Work Experience:

• Experience with various commercial products including Commercial, Agriculture, Short-term, Engineering, etc.
• Ability to handle a portfolio of approximately policies.
• 3-5 years of commercial underwriting experience.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Minimum Requirements:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Good typing skills with accuracy and speed.
• Sound knowledge of Insurance principles.
• Websure system experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Well spoken with good client orientation.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proper telephone etiquette.
• Ability to communicate in Afrikaans and English is advantageous.
• Ability to handle pressure effectively.
