About the Role

The successful Solar Sales Engineer will provide innovative design engineering solutions for commercial solar photovoltaic projects, manage sales opportunities, drive business development, and handle client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Understand designing and installation of commercial solar systems.
  2. Identify potential business opportunities and generate leads.
  3. Manage solar projects, perform site visits, energy audits, oversee installation and commissioning.
  4. Participate in bidding processes for solar projects.
  5. Update management on project statuses and market opportunities.
  6. Design commercial solar systems, including drawings (SLDs, panel layouts, stringing, inverter, earthing layouts).
  7. Prepare reports and contribute to project proposals.
  8. Engage with clients, assess project feasibility, and manage procurement.
Candidate Requirements
Education:
  • Pr Tech Eng or Pr Eng beneficial.
  • Bachelor of Engineering and/or Bachelor of Science (BEng, BSc).
Experience:
  • Experience in Solar PV projects.
  • Sales experience.
  • Knowledge of PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or other design software.
  • Wireman license is an advantage.
Additional Considerations
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license required.
  • Professional, self-motivated, and target-driven.
  • Willing to travel within and outside South Africa.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with sales planning skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM, Microsoft Office, and sales analytics tools.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, industry events, and support.
