Investment Research Analyst Job Overview

The Investment Research Analyst will support the investment team by conducting in-depth financial, business, strategic, and competitive analysis, and producing objective research on public, private, and investment companies.

Responsibilities include building financial models, assessing management teams and industry dynamics, supporting due diligence, and developing a structured, data-driven research process. They will work closely with the Director of Research and Investments to deliver insights that inform investment decisions across various sectors.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Conduct in-depth research and financial analysis of companies targeted for investment or acquisition.
2. Identify, research, and interpret the investment activity of successful investment firms to identify potential signals or strategic trends.
3. Build and maintain financial models to assess historical performance and future projections.
4. Perform valuation analysis within assigned industries, sectors, or asset classes.
5. Assess management team effectiveness and key incentives of business strategy.
6. Monitor market trends, industry developments, and investor activity impacting target companies.
7. Review financial statements, regulatory filings, and other disclosures to extract relevant insights.
8. Attend quarterly calls and monitor communications with management teams and stakeholders.
9. Produce clear, structured, and objective research reports to support an unbiased investment process.
10. Ensure research findings are well-documented and supported by data.
11. Utilize research tools and conduct interviews to gather insights, data, and strategies.

Essential Skills and Experience

Education and Experience: Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, accounting, or related field. Postgraduate qualification preferred. CFA or CA qualifications are advantageous. 5-8 years of experience in investment research, equity analysis, financial modeling, investment banking, corporate finance, or investigative research.

Skills: Experience analyzing financial statements, earnings reports, and regulatory filings. Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Experience conducting due diligence interviews. Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. Excellent written communication skills and a commitment to unbiased research.

Physical and Travel Requirements

Capable of wearing PPE such as dust masks, respirators, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, and ear protection. Able to meet OSHA manual lifting standards. International travel may be required occasionally.
