This is a high-impact opportunity to join a global leader in logistics and open doors across the continent.

About the Company

Our client is a global logistics powerhouse with over 50 years of experience operating across the African continent.

Their South African division plays a crucial role in connecting multinational clients with markets through end-to-end freight solutions—including clearing, forwarding, warehousing, and corridor logistics across the continent.

Role Overview

As the Business Development Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding business through key corridors into Southern Africa.

You'll partner with internal teams to submit bids and proposals, build a strong pipeline, negotiate deals, and lead strategic initiatives across mining and project sectors.

Collaboration with both local and international teams is key to your success in this fast-paced role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop business opportunities across all four Southern Africa corridors: Durban, Dar es Salaam, Beira, Walvis Bay.
  2. Focus on mining and large project logistics into Southern Africa.
  3. Assist with tenders and proposals with support from London-based bid teams and estimators.
  4. Build strong pipelines and submit accurate quotations.
  5. Develop and maintain a master rate template for each corridor.
  6. Promote and utilise key corridor services, including Chingola HUB, WHC / Zalawi, and port warehouses.
  7. Implement new business with a strong handover to operational teams.
  8. Maintain CRM updates (Concerto) and provide weekly/monthly reporting.
  9. Work closely with product heads to negotiate rates and create best-fit solutions.
  10. Stay informed on industry and regional developments, vertical sector knowledge, and competitor activity.
Requirements
  • Matric certificate required.
  • 5+ years proven sales experience, preferably within clearing & forwarding.
  • Exposure to mining, heavy cargo, or cross-border logistics is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret financials and work in a budget-driven environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and CRM knowledge.
  • Confident negotiator and skilled communicator.
  • Able to handle pressure, meet targets, and operate independently.
  • Formal sales training and exposure to corridor logistics preferred.
What's in it for you?
  • Join a global logistics leader with a powerful African footprint.
  • Work alongside cross-functional and international teams.
  • Opportunity to own and grow your region across four major trade corridors.
  • Exposure to high-value tenders, projects, and mining clients.
  • Collaborative and performance-driven environment with room to grow.
