Job Description
This role reports into the Mining Systems Workshop Department.
We deliver technical services and technology systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Group's diamond value chain, from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical surveys, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development, and maintenance.
The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out repairs, inspections, and service maintenance on mechanical equipment.
Your role will include:
- Participating in inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing standards, and company policies to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Technician.
- Performing trade-related maintenance and repairs of industrial equipment and machinery according to quality maintenance requirements and good workmanship.
- Using, reading, and interpreting all trade-related drawings to execute mechanical and hydraulic fitment work according to organizational procedures.
- Training, guiding, informing, and counseling learners or subordinates in technical knowledge and trade skills.
- Building relationships across the De Beers Pipeline by sharing appropriate business information and knowledge.
Qualifications
Formal qualifications:
- MERSETA Trade Test Certificate (or equivalent) in Hydraulics, Mechanical, or Diesel Fitting.
Additional requirements:
- At least 4 years of post-trade experience, with a minimum of 2 years in hydraulic maintenance or medium to heavy industrial environments.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
