Job description

The Finance Manager – Corporate & Subsidiary Oversight will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial compliance, reporting consistency, and oversight of the finance function of selected subsidiaries, including in other African countries. Based at the corporate office, this role combines shared services financial responsibilities (including IFRS and tax compliance) with oversight of in-country finance teams to enhance financial controls, alignment, and reporting quality. This role reports to the Technical Finance Manager.

Purpose of the role

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Support general finance operations within the shared services function by reviewing monthly cost centre reporting, performing specific account clearing and reconciliation functions, and coordinating monthly closure processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly group reporting and the accurate capture and presentation of financial data to support effective decision-making.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls through oversight of reconciliations, complex transactions, and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure accurate and ongoing compliance with IFRS 16 Leases, including accounting processes and related controls.
  • Prepare standalone financial statements in accordance with IFRS, coordinating with auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and implementation of appropriate controls.

Subsidiary Financial Oversight

  • Provide oversight and high-level review of selected African subsidiary financials, including monthly reporting, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Support in-country finance teams by ensuring alignment with group reporting expectations, timelines, and controls.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely audit completion and compliance.
  • Assist subsidiary finance teams in preparing financial reporting templates and improving the accuracy and timeliness of submitted data.
  • Support in-country management with strategic decisions.
  • Guide and support the development and roll-out of finance procedures and assist in-country teams on Sage X3 ERP system queries, compliance, and reporting in line with the Group’s policies.

Requirements for the role

  • Qualified CA(SA).
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-articles experience in a financial reporting or financial oversight role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax legislation (including VAT), and financial compliance.
  • Experience with Sage X3 ERP system will be advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency: ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working across cultures and departments.
