Job description

Our client, a vibrant retail and manufacturing company in Central Cape Town, is seeking an Accounting and Inventory Manager to join their team. It will be flexible part-time hours that will allow you to find the perfect work-life balance.

POSITION INFO: Qualifications:

  • BCom Degree or SAIPA / SAICA registered
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a related role
  • Experience with ERP systems (Xero is a plus)
  • Strong ERP system skills and proficiency in Excel
  • Proven experience in inventory management and cost accounting
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with external partners

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Produce Monthly Management Accounts: Done in a format agreeable to management
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, and payments
  • Accounts Receivable: Track customer invoices, record payments, and manage outstanding receivables
  • Accounts Payable: Record supplier invoices, process payments, and manage outstanding payables
  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS): Calculate the direct costs attributable to the production of leather bags, including raw materials, labour, and manufacturing overhead
  • Inventory Valuation: Use methods like FIFO, LIFO, or weighted average to value inventory accurately
  • Cycle Counting: Perform regular cycle counts to verify physical inventory against system records
  • Work with external partners to assist them with producing monthly management accounts in a format useful to management
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all modules of the ERP system
  • Prepare for and support external audits to verify the accuracy and integrity of financial and inventory records
  • Purchase Orders: Generate and manage purchase orders for raw materials and other supplies
  • Bill of Materials (BOM): Maintain accurate BOMs to track the cost and usage of raw materials in production
  • Standard Costing: Use standard costing methods to allocate manufacturing costs to products
  • Shrinkage Management: Identify and address causes of inventory shrinkage, such as theft, damage, or errors
  • Barcode / RFID Systems Implementation: Implement systems for real-time tracking of inventory movements
  • Warehouse Layout Optimization: Organize the warehouse for efficient storage and retrieval of inventory
