Job description

Our client is seeking a Battery Quality Inspector to join their team at the Elandsfontein manufacturing facility. This hands-on role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with experience in quality inspection, particularly within a manufacturing or technical environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough battery quality checks, ensuring all products meet company standards and specifications before leaving the production line.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) checks using a voltmeter.
  • Inspect batteries for physical defects, skewness, and ensure label types match the master reference.
  • Assess the condition of battery terminals and identify any irregularities.
  • Accurately identify engraved codes on batteries.
  • Lift and handle batteries weighing between 15–20kg during inspections.
  • Record inspection findings accurately and compile basic reports using Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
  • Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends or recurring quality issues.
  • Maintain quality records and report any non-conformances.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding quality standards and issues.
  • Ensure all inspection tasks are performed in line with company procedures and safety regulations.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • N3/N6 in Electrical or Chemical Engineering (or similar technical studies) is advantageous.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality inspection or quality control environment, preferably in manufacturing or battery production.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong visual inspection skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of manually lifting medium-weight items (15–20kg).
  • Computer literate, with the ability to create reports and perform basic spreadsheet functions.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis related to quality control.
  • Fluent in English with the ability to communicate clearly across various levels of the business.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
