Management Accountant (Cape Town - Onsite)
ENVIRONMENT:
A company headquartered in Germany that emphasizes innovation for growth is seeking a Management Accountant. The role involves overseeing financial management activities within a manufacturing environment, supporting group consolidation and reporting across the organization. The candidate will need expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting, with the ability to manage financial consolidations for a multi-entity structure. Collaboration with the finance team and other departments is essential to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost control, and strategic financial planning for both manufacturing operations and the wider group.
DUTIES:
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
- Calculate and analyse standard costs for products, materials, labour, and overhead within the manufacturing environment.
- Maintain and update cost accounting systems for accurate cost allocation.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights for cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead cost modelling for new products and processes, aligning manufacturing costs with pricing and profitability goals.
Group Consolidation & Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual group consolidation processes for all subsidiaries.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements according to group policies and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
- Ensure proper elimination of intercompany transactions and adjustments for group reporting.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare management accounts, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide variance analysis and interpret financial results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Review performance against budgets and forecasts, offering insights and recommendations.
- Generate reports for senior management to highlight key financial metrics and advise on business improvements.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Coordinate annual budgets for manufacturing and group-wide financial planning.
- Contribute to group forecasts, ensuring accurate reflection of operational data.
- Develop financial models for future performance and capital needs.
- Support monthly and quarterly forecasts, updating projections based on actuals and business changes.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Oversee inventory management across manufacturing sites.
- Reconcile inventory values monthly, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in raw materials, production, and supply chain.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Support
- Conduct profitability and cost structure analyses to guide pricing, cost reduction, and investments.
- Support strategic decisions like make-or-buy, plant efficiency, and new product profitability.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Work with auditors during year-end audits.
- Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and inventory.
- Coordinate with stakeholders on tax and reporting standards.
Process Improvement & Systems Development
- Identify and implement process improvements for reporting, cost accounting, and consolidation.
- Recommend system enhancements to ERP and accounting processes.
- Assist cross-functional teams in aligning financial practices with operational goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or progress toward is desirable.
- Experience: 4-6 years in management accounting/finance, with exposure to cost accounting and financial reporting in manufacturing or multi-entity environments. Experience with group consolidation, intercompany eliminations, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics), and IFRS/GAAP is essential.
- Skills: Strong analytical, cost control, budgeting, and forecasting skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with tax, process improvements, and lean principles is a plus.
