Purpose of Role: To perform the maintenance and project activities in support of production
requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical support service for the organization to achieve its’ targets.
- Investigate and recommend any improvements in systems or processes.
- Strict compliance with all statutory requirements & guidelines
- Deliver quality workmanship to prevent equipment failure.
- Utilize problem solving techniques to address failures to ensure no repeats.
- Equipment breakdowns are efficiently attended to.
- Maintenance checks done to schedule and accurately recorded.
- Apply Foundation Practices to perfect efficiencies and drive down waste.
- Performing routine and non-routine repairs and maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, control panels, and wiring.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation.
- Ensuring adherence to legal and safety requirements in the electrical domain.
- Overseeing the operation of electrical equipment during their shift, potentially in charge of generators, switchboards, or other machinery.
- Providing electrical engineering support to the facility.
- Reviewing and establishing electrical work procedures when needed.
- Ensuring plant reliability and adherence to scheduled planned maintenance.
General:
- Ensure all reasonable requests are conducted without delay.
- Do shift work and overtime as and when needed, within reason.
- Ensure that high standard of workmanship is maintained.
- Play an active role in the team, contribute positively to the performance of the team and attainment of performance objectives.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 plus Qualified Artisan – Red Seal (Electrician, Millwright)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG)
- Knowledge: FMCG experience necessary.
- PLC knowledge in fault finding preferably Siemens S7 and Omron
- Be able to read and fault find from electrical schematic drawings.
Experience:
- Electrical problem solving and diagnostic experience.
- Experience with high-speed production equipment.
- Oven combustion (Gas) and temporary control experience
- High-speed Inspection Systems Experience (Cameras)
- A strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including PLC control, VSDs, DOLs, and hydraulics/pneumatics.
- Diagnose and fix electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical issues efficiently.
- Staying up to date with relevant standards and regulations is crucial.
Competencies:
- Hard-wire and relay logic fault finding
- Good people relationships and communication at various levels
- Be an initiative-taking collaborator with a high level of commitment and drive.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
