Job Description

Providing consulting engineering services for the design, implementation, and close-out of Building Controls & Telecommunications infrastructure, as well as ICT & ELV systems for large-scale data centers.

The systems typically comprise:

  • CCTV Monitoring & Recording Systems
  • Access Control Systems
  • Structured Cabling design with knowledge of network and IT equipment
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Fibre Optic Network design including Ethernet and GPON solutions
  • High Performance Computing & Storage Server hardware (advantageous)
  • Project Management and Coordination with other Building Services
  • Knowledge and experience with Autodesk BIM (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field, etc.) and CAD software (advantageous)

This role encompasses the entire ELV & ICT consulting spectrum from inception through to close-out.

Key responsibilities include assisting senior engineers, project reporting, design reviews, maintaining stakeholder relationships, supporting organizational objectives, participating in project meetings, and ensuring compliance with standards.

The role requires proficiency in Telecoms, Controls, ELV & ICT design and commissioning, data center technologies, and standards such as SANS, ANSI/EIA/TIA, ISO. Experience in modeling software and BIM is advantageous, as is knowledge of project stages from inception to close-out, tender documentation, and management.

Additional responsibilities involve assisting in BOQ formulation, equipment specifications, quality control, site supervision, troubleshooting, cost control, and multi-contractor management.

Qualifications
  • BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • SAQCC registration (advantageous)
  • Interest in ELV design and construction monitoring on Data Centre projects
  • Knowledge of Revit and/or ACC (advantageous)
  • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng eligibility (advantageous)
