Position Summary

The Therapist is responsible for assessing and monitoring client behavior during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency.

In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, the Therapist documents client behavior, group participation, and counseling; cares for clients; and coordinates treatment and discharge planning.

Therapists will also provide crisis management, counseling, group therapies, and education for clients and their families/significant others in a therapeutic milieu setting.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide assessments and participate in treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
  • Interview residents to gather information on social history, treatment, and other pertinent details.
  • Observe residents to detect signs of abnormal physical or mental behavior.
  • Review test results from psychologists to evaluate residents' needs.
  • Adjust therapy methods and intensity based on resident reactions and needs.
  • Discuss progress toward goals with residents.
  • Plan and administer therapeutic treatments, behavior modification, and stress management therapy.
  • Complete and maintain individual and group counseling notes and documentation.
  • Develop and implement discharge planning with residents, families, and agencies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Assist Clinical Director in coordinating services for clients.
  • Facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
  • Organize and promote on-site activities, therapeutic support, and educational groups.
  • Provide education for clients and their families/significant others.
  • Respond to emergencies and document significant client events.
  • Handle client complaints appropriately.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience and education in chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse.
  • Minimum of hours of clinical experience.
  • Extensive crisis management experience.
Qualifications
  • Master's level therapist: LMFT, AMFT, LCSW, or MFTI.
  • California State Driver's License.
  • Experience in educating about chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
