Are you an experienced PHP Developer with strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring others? We’re looking for a PHP Team Lead Developer to join our client’s Cape Town-based team and drive the development of innovative, high-performing web applications. This is a key leadership role where you’ll guide a team of developers, architect technical solutions, and ensure high standards in code quality, performance, and delivery.

Duties:

• Lead and mentor a team of PHP developers in an agile environment
• Architect and develop scalable web applications using modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, etc.)
• Oversee code reviews, development practices, and system architecture decisions
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business goals
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality code and manage development workflows

Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in PHP development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Strong expertise in Laravel, Symfony, or similar modern PHP frameworks
• Solid understanding of MySQL/PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, and MVC design patterns
• Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Exposure to DevOps practices and containerization (Docker)
• Background in e-commerce or SaaS platforms
