Job description

Description of the Job: General Assistant (External Applications Only)

Responsibilities
  1. Customer Service: Ensure comprehensive customer service in-store. Advise and assist customers on products and queries. Assist with and resolve customer complaints.
  2. Merchandising: Stock merchandising, shelf price labeling, and housekeeping within designated areas. Ensure stock areas are merchandised safely and according to store layout plans and planograms.
  3. Housekeeping: Keep the area free of obstacles, ensure stock is merchandised immediately after receipt, and maintain clear entry and exit points for customers. Complete checklists as required.
  4. Safety (OHSA) Compliance: Use safety gear, ensure safety of customers and staff, and report discrepancies or damaged stock to the Store Manager.
  5. Stock Management: Manage stock loss and report damaged stock.
  6. Drive for Results: Achieve set targets, complete work accurately, and follow company standards and commitments.
  7. Solve Problems: Identify root causes of problems, resolve or escalate issues appropriately.
  8. Decision Making: Make decisions within company policies and procedures, considering consequences, and implement them accordingly.
  9. Planning: Plan activities within operational and departmental policies.
  10. Handle Pressure: Maintain composure under workload and time pressures.
  11. Collaboration: Demonstrate courtesy and willingness to assist colleagues, customers, and suppliers. Effectively handle conflict situations.
  12. Communication: Communicate courteously and effectively, sharing relevant information with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of relevant experience, or Grade 12 without experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language.
  • Valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
