Introduction

Fastway Couriers is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Payroll Officer to join their team.

The purpose of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for Fastway.

The Payroll Officer will manage payroll from start to finish, ensuring all statutory payroll functions are performed in compliance with laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Management: Collect, process, and verify payroll data (e.g., hours worked, overtime, bonuses, etc.), prepare and issue payslips, and ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries.
  2. Statutory Payroll Functions: Prepare and submit monthly PAYE, UIF, and SDL returns to SARS; submit UIF declarations; complete and submit reports to Stats SA; manage and submit EMP reconciliation reports; ensure employee information is accurate and up-to-date; maintain compliance with labour laws.
  3. Record Keeping and Administration: Maintain organized records, ensure confidentiality, handle queries, and perform audits and discrepancies resolution.
  4. Ad hoc Duties: Assist with other payroll-related tasks and projects as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric; Degree or Diploma in Logistics or related field beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in payroll administration.
  • Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation.
  • Experience with Sage Payroll software.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Confidentiality and analytical skills.
  • Service-oriented attitude with a CAN-DO mindset.
