The purpose of this role is to provide efficient administrative support to the Production Manager.
POSITION INFO :
Driver Supply Chain
Accountable for the operation of own work area or as a member of a team, as well as for quality, standards, and outputs within defined work routines and policies.
Job Purpose: To ensure delivery of stock to customers according to the planned delivery schedule, while ensuring superior levels of customer service, aligned to the company's standards and business ethics within the bounds of the law.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
- Manage and control the delivery process from end-to-end
- Prepare for next day's deliveries
- Adhere to the start-up procedure
- Ensure independent driver checks of truck stock are conducted in full and signed accordingly
- Travel to the customer following the defined route and delivery schedule
- Carry out the delivery of stock
- Return to the depot within specified timeframe
- All documentation to be signed, consolidated, and returned in full
- Demonstrate superior customer service levels during deliveries
- Live the company's values by being respectful and courteous to customers and consumers
- Ensure customers are kept informed about what they are receiving and the progress of unloading
- Maintain constant contact with the Distribution Controller/Expeditor for feedback on execution and delays
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment
- Comply with safety and health policies and applicable legislation
- Complete pre-trip inspections prior to every trip
- Communicate any non-compliant items to management
- Practice green band driving at all times
- Practice truck lockout procedures during loading
- Comply with all traffic rules and safety regulations
- Keep vehicles clean and presentable
Adherence to Food Safety Requirements
- Commit to the company's Food Safety policy and objectives
- Understand and implement all food safety requirements
- Enforce GMPs and conduct themselves in a manner conducive to food safety practices
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
- Report any food safety risks or illnesses to relevant personnel
- Collaborate with the food safety team to maintain GFSI certification
Operational Responsibilities
- Accurate checking, loading, and unloading of vehicles
- Conduct independent load checks for correct quantities
- Record returns accurately
- Maintain effective communication with warehouse staff
- Utilize technological solutions fully and effectively
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4, Code 14 Driver's License, PDP (Essential)
- Up to 3 years of operational execution experience in FMCG
