Job Summary

The applicant will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and/or businesses requiring lending products within the Private Wealth Banking segment.

The role involves interpreting financial information, assessing client desirability, and detailing risk mitigation strategies in line with credit mandates, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. A key focus is delivering high-quality credit risk assessments to ensure sustainable profit and asset growth within the Operational Level Agreement (OLA).

This position requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of credit principles, decision-making abilities, and effective communication with internal stakeholders and clients.

Job Description
Credit Sanctioning
  • Apply credit roadmaps to assess and analyze credit applications, determining eligibility and risk within regulatory frameworks, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Review and interpret financial information, including business financial statements, with understanding of relevant financial ratios.
  • Assess industry and business risks, introducing risk mitigation measures.
  • Make recommendations on lending outside mandate or policy to higher approval bodies.
  • Ensure all credit assessments comply with banking regulations, emphasizing NCAA compliance and internal policies.
  • Provide guidance on deal structures and assessments.
  • Prepare detailed credit reports and present findings to credit committees or senior management.
  • Proactively manage portfolio risks by identifying high-risk trends and industries.
  • Perform quality credit sanctioning within the OLA, considering risks, solutions, and compliance.
Stakeholder Management
  • Manage, develop, and maintain excellent relationships within your area of responsibility.
  • Support Business and SBU's in skill development through training.
  • Attend sales meetings with relevant SBU's.
  • Demonstrate client engagement and add value.
  • Engage in productive deal-making debates with stakeholders.
  • Manage deliverables and stakeholder expectations.
Risk and Control
  • Apply high standards of controls and risk management, fostering a positive risk culture.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and report risks from significant events or audit issues.
  • Exercise prudence, sound judgment, and escalation when managing risks.
Qualifications
  • BCom in Accounting, Finance, or Risk. Postgraduate degree preferred.
  • Previous credit sanctioning experience required.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies (Required)
