Our client is looking for a Operations Manager to join their team and contribute to effective service delivery by managing the operations team responsible for executing international freight forwarding shipments from start to finish.
POSITION INFO:
Ensure all activities regarding Branch Operations are executed and managed efficiently. Build and maintain elevated levels of customer satisfaction and relationships with existing and new clients.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Ensure compliance with designated system processes, including file registration, shipment monitoring, and liaising with carriers, warehouses, and transporters. Ensure accurate and efficient communication with management and colleagues to promote efficiency. Oversee daily operational tasks, including the management of the Customs Deferment. Ensure that all invoices from service providers are requested and received on time for invoicing within 48 hours after customs release.
Customer and Client Interaction: Interact with clients to keep them informed about shipments and provide general assistance to controllers. Ensure client requirements are met and exceeded, providing visible support and information in response to enquiries and queries. Establish and develop strong relationships with carriers, agents, and clients to increase confidence in the company and drive brand awareness and loyalty.
Profitability and Financial Management: Ensure profitability ratio of GP to Cost of Sales and overall profitability of the branch. Assist with claims management and monthly reporting. Manage P&L responsibility and assist with financial queries. Ensure all applicable accruals for shipments are captured in the month revenue is recognized. Process and follow up on estimate requests for the existing client base.
Team Management: Lead the team through coaching, developing, and motivating subordinates. Train and develop new employees, ensuring they understand new and current Customs legislation. Manage team performance against targets and objectives aligned with overall company strategy. Ensure employee productivity at an acceptable level per product. Foster a motivated workforce.
Sales and Solution Building: Partake in sales activities and solution building for new opportunities/customers. Ensure growth of 8% over and above inflation. Report to management and assist with various queries. Ensure accurate shipment events are captured on the system daily.
Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of the forwarding and clearing industry, Incoterms, and customs requirements.
Good knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain processes.
Proficiency in CW1.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Exceptional communication skills and decision-making abilities.
Attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Costing and budgeting abilities.
Leadership and people management skills.
Familiarity with carriers tracking tools.
Qualifications: 5-10 years of industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar management role.
