Job Purpose

Join a leading, top-ranked, high-energy Equity Research Franchise in a junior analyst role, assisting the lead analyst in sectors such as PGMs, Gold, and Oil and Gas. Develop sector coverage over time with the opportunity to advance into a lead role within the bank. The ideal candidate must have strong numeracy skills, be highly analytical, self-starting, creative, and proficient in developing and presenting views.

Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are critical.

Ability to cope in a high-pressure environment is essential. The role involves guiding client trades and generating a commission stream via the broker's dealing platform.

Responsibilities
  • Publish investment ideas, sector updates, and company reports regularly.
  • Market investment ideas and organize conferences and corporate access activities.
  • Build a network of executive contacts and generate insights to support the bank's primary capital teams.
  • Responsible for the bank's PGM commodity forecasts, including global supply/demand modeling and pricing estimates.
  • Assist the Sector Head in conducting research, updating models, and sourcing new data.
  • Attend roadshows, company results meetings, and site visits.
  • Respond to client requests and ensure research content is accurate, marketable, and actionable.
  • Write insightful research reports covering sectors and companies.
  • Develop skills to initiate coverage of relevant stocks.
  • Market investment ideas to domestic and offshore investors through various channels.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Trading to optimize idea marketing and execution.
  • Proactively share ideas with related functions like ECM, DCM, M&A, and corporate finance.
  • Develop and oversee sector coverage and product strategies to grow the research franchise.
  • Monitor relevant stocks, current events, and key developments within targeted sectors.
  • Ensure consistent quality in research reports and publications.
  • Distribute research ideas within CIB functions to generate leads.
  • Organize conferences and corporate access activities for client engagement.
  • Plan and present analysis to demonstrate the value of research ideas to clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in engineering or mathematical sciences.
  • Experience in mining and metals industry analysis preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with financial modeling expertise.
  • 1-2 years in global markets equity research.
  • 4-6 years of experience as a covering or lead analyst, with client relationship skills.
