Qualifications

Job description

Job Purpose

Technical specialized support on products. Providing comprehensive technical services for the efficient and safe operation of communication and electronic technology for health, safety and productivity in the mining sector.

Minimum Requirements

  • N4 with 4 to 6 years- experience in electronics (hardware and software) and communications (hardware, networks and software) OR Trade qualification in electronic / electrical
  • 4 - 6 years-experience
  • Knowledge of company products.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft package).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Mine Experience - MUST
  • Own Vehicle.

Responsibilities

Product

  • Existing/Legacy products config management to latest spec
  • Quality req. – NCR’s, ECR, TB, WI, - Coordinating of these.
  • Coordinate or assist with testing of FW – Coordinating of this.
  • Coordinate and assist with testing of Hardware.
  • Assists with technical training where required.
  • Carrying out ad-hoc audits on area product support.
  • Where requested, assist with technical matters for support and projects.
  • Review, update, create product manuals as required.
  • Assist with product trials.
  • Coordinate or assist with customer product trials/POC’s.

Product Marketing

  • Assist with customer presentations where required.
  • Assist sales force with product training and/or customer interface meetings where required.
  • Sound understanding of product solutions and roadmap of product evolution by understanding exactly why and how the solution is solving the client problem.
  • Provide insight on market intelligence – Competitor solutions and Customer typical needs per sector.
  • Assist with product launch activities – Product demonstration, trial, POC, presentation, creating launch advertising content.

Administration

  • Schedule daily time to answer or create necessary e-mails
  • Create time for document reviews.
  • Create time for typical HR related weekly’s – Prompt petrol claims, leave expenses etc.
  • Prompt liaising with customers through emails or phone calls where required.

Technical

  • Installation, repairing, calibration, certification and technical support of electronic products and systems to the highest technical and safety standards on the specified mine/s.
  • Set up and tests units to meet specified requirements.
  • Quality checks all work as per company quality policy.
  • Troubleshoot problems to determine root cause of issue and recommend a corrective action.
  • Responsible for the troubleshooting equipment sent from sites of the electronic equipment and software, according to company standards and follow through until product has returned to site.
  • Reporting and recording further maintenance requirements.
  • New Projects.
  • Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function.
  • Housekeeping.
  • Any other reasonable duties given to you by your direct supervisor / Manager.

Support

  • Liaise with other technical employees, and customers on the site to support in ensuring quality and safety of work and that contractual obligations are met.
  • Keep supervisor updated of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect the customer or our company.
  • Feedback on a regular basis to product manager and BU Manager.
  • Provides support to the Technician and Supervisor on assignments and works in other departments and/or miscellaneous assignments as instructed.
  • Developing of customer relations.
  • Completion of required documentation, reports and paperwork for the mine, customers and technical coordinators / Supervisors.

Health and Safety

  • Always adhere to all customer safety regulations.
  • Adhere to specific risk assessment before commencing daily tasks.
  • Ensure medical and inductions are valid.
