Job description

Our client is a high-quality equipment supplier for engineering welding and mining companies in South Africa. They are looking to appoint an External Sales Representative to identify new sales prospects and manage existing clients, helping the company grow within the industry.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
  1. Sell products by establishing contact.
  2. Maintain and develop relationships with customers by providing support, information, and guidance.
  3. Recommend solutions.
  4. Visit and quote customers.
  5. Follow up on quotations.
  6. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  7. Maintain quality service by enforcing company standards.
  8. Invoice customers and order stock to complete back orders.
  9. Perform deliveries when needed.
  10. Follow up on customer back orders.
  11. Complete customer planning and visits.
  12. Make cold calls to expand the customer base.
  13. Arrange and conduct demos on welding machines.
  14. Handle all job-related administration.
  15. Perform all ad hoc duties as required by management.
  16. Abide by the company's Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  17. Achieve monthly targets and GP's as discussed by management and according to contract.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

Tertiary qualification is advantageous.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in relevant field.
  • Code 8 driver's license.
  • Experience working with customers and maintaining customer relations.
  • Experience in the welding industry.
  • Ability to adapt to the environment.
  • Ability to plan weekly routes and visit customers accordingly.
  • Good time management skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of welding machines, consumables, gas and gas cutting equipment, power tools, generators, spares, hand tools, plasma systems, and compressors.
