Tongaat has a vacancy for a Finance Business Partner.

Position Info:

Purpose of Role: To provide a high level of financial skills combined with superior business acumen, commercial sense, and strategic intelligence.

The role requires understanding the strategic framework of business processes, coupled with project management, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Additionally, the role involves providing financial and administrative support to operations concerning local and export markets.

Qualifications & Experience Required:
  • Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) SA.
  • At least 5-10 years of relevant experience in a sugar environment, with a successful track record in middle management within a large organization.
  • Experience managing financials of approximately R10 billion.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business systems and process improvement capabilities, negotiation skills, and knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with SAP is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial and Management Reporting:
  • Perform financial evaluations and provide insights for business decisions.
  • Review product and customer profitability reports.
  • Review monthly agent commissions and incentives.
  • Monitor raw material and commodity prices, liaising with procurement for favorable terms.
  • Assess stock returns due to quality issues and their business impact.
  • Stay updated on competitor trends and their impact on the business.
Commercial Management:
  • Monitor raw material requirements and align with forecasts.
  • Track cost of sales, selling prices, and gross profit margins, addressing concerns with senior management.
  • Maintain relationships with key suppliers and insurers, working on contracts and tenders.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Prepare detailed revenue and raw material budgets.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and variance reporting.
  • Review standard costs for the Bill of Materials.
Sugar Industry Obligations:
  • Oversee molasses carry-over calculations and payments.
  • Prepare for molasses industry season-end audits and submit monthly SASA reports.
Internal Control and Risk Management:

Implement and maintain standards and systems for internal control and risk mitigation.
