PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a Technical Advisor to the Natural Resources business line on all HSE related areas, including legal compliance, client requirements, and Health & Safety Management Systems requirements as per local and global standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the Natural Resources business line Top Page for all sites.
- Conduct H&S training aligned with HSMS as required.
- Facilitate Risk Assessments in line with projects.
- Manage HSE-related communication between role players (H&S, Coordinators, Management).
- Facilitate H&S projects and support their rollout and implementation.
- Implement global H&S initiatives throughout Natural Resources (e.g., Safe Start, Stellar, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Safe Talks, SGS Rules for Life, Stop Work Authority, BBS).
- Facilitate the Reward & Recognition program for the group.
- Report and manage H&S incidents, near misses, hazards, and best practices.
- Participate in incident investigations as needed.
- Report incidents and near misses into Crystal.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance visits, providing guidance for improvements.
- Assist with the coordination of the BCM program.
- Maintain visibility on all sites to demonstrate H&S commitment.
- Ensure adherence to all safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other tasks to support the overall strategy.
SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
- Identify, plan, recommend, and complete H&S programs aligned with strategy.
- Coordinate with H&S managers and site teams.
- Implement HSMS/IMS and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct inspections and self-assessments for compliance.
- Support sites during projects and expansions.
- Investigate incidents and report findings promptly.
- Implement H&S activities across SGS sites.
- Address safety hazards and nonconformities proactively.
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12)
- SAMTRAC or equivalent Certificate (NQF 5)
Experience
- At least 5 years of administrative experience
- At least 5 years of relevant HSE management experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in document and report writing
Competencies
- Knowledge of applicable legislation (OHS Act, Mine Act)
- Understanding of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 standards
- Experience in systems and legal auditing
- Good communication and personnel skills
