CAREER OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity exists for a Commercial Underwriter to join the Underwriting Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing their broker portfolio. This role reports to the Commercial Underwriting Manager and involves participation in strategic and operational activities. The position is based in Centurion.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deliver exceptional client service that exceeds customer expectations through proactive, innovative, and appropriate motor assessing processes.
2. Possess knowledge and understanding of various Commercial products in depth.
3. Understand Commercial Lines product requirements.
4. Work with various insurers covering Commercial products, Agriculture, Engineering, and Hospitality.
5. Understand how the Commercial Lines Industry functions, including trends like Auto Rating.
6. Be a logical thinker capable of translating product requirements into system functionality, including data validation, minimums, maximums, accumulations, and computations.
7. Be proactive in investigating and learning new skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

1. Matric certificate.
2. FAIS Credits as per FAIS requirements.
3. Fit & Proper status under the FAIS Act.
4. Regulatory Exam: Representatives.
5. Not debarred with FSCA.

Work Experience:

1. Experience with various commercial products such as Commercial, Agriculture, Short-term, Engineering, etc.
2. Ability to handle a portfolio of approximately 500 policies.
3. 3-5 years of commercial underwriting experience.

Technical Competencies

Minimum Requirements:

1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
2. Good typing skills (accuracy and speed).
3. Sound knowledge of insurance principles.
4. Experience with Websure system is advantageous.
5. Well-spoken with good communication skills.
6. Client-oriented with attention to detail.
7. Organized and able to handle pressure.
8. Ability to communicate fluently in Afrikaans and English is advantageous.
