We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Soap Project Coordinator to join our Soap-For-Hope team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring initiatives designed to drive progress and achieve organisational goals.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Manage Soap Project staff, arrange transport, uniform, training etc.
- Using the Soap Project vehicle, to collect and drop home all soap project workers
- Ensure that the soap project team are well, happy, settled and productive
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Liaise with hotels in the Western Cape for donations of used soap
- Source new hotel suppliers for their discarded soaps
- Arrange collection of donated soaps and purchasing of other soap product ingredients
- Complete regular reports for Senior Management, Board of Trustees and all donors and other stakeholders
- Source customers for the soap – markets, wine tasting rooms, boutique hotels, shops, staff etc.
- Host visitors to the soap project and organise demonstrations to large groups as required
- Manage all aspects of visits to the project
SOAP PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION
- Oversee the correct production of recycled soap
- Create new and exciting soap ranges using additional ingredients
- Manage distribution of free soap direct to Pebbles communities and through wellness programme, maternal health programme etc.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
- Manage the Soap Project Budget – income from sales of soap and expenses
- Track numbers of soap produced and soap sold for budgeting purposes
- Balance the budget so that income exceeds expenses and the soap becomes self-sustainable
PR/MARKETING DUTIES
- Design and produce environmentally-friendly packaging
- Maintain photo library of the project
- Liaise with social media coordinator to promote sales of soap
- Design and create gift packages for special occasions including soap and other related products
MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of the Soap Project factory
- Ensure the soap factory is always in adherence with all H&S regulations
Requirements
- Code 8 driving license and PDP with at least 3 years’ driving experience
- Some knowledge of, or experience in, soap making
- Confidence to engage with external stakeholders – hotel managers, shop owners, donors, visitors etc.
- Experience in management of a budget
The working hours of this position will be in line with the operational hours of the soap project.
(NB: This is a Part Time position with a salary in the region of R 10 000 p.m)
