About the Company

The company is the second-largest producer of polymer-based mill liners, which are critical components in driving efficiency and lowering cost per ton of operation.

It has manufacturing facilities in India, South Africa, Australia, and Chile, and exports its products and solutions to over 70 countries.

About the Role

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the placement of selected moulds, resolving production problems, and supervising the production activities of the team manufacturing and finishing rubber mouldings in consultation with the Senior Foreman.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Discuss work programmed for the shift with the Senior Foreman at the start of each shift.
  2. Place the selected moulds for the production run and ensure each operator understands their tasks for the shift.
  3. Check that moulds and tools are in good condition.
  4. Ensure that the material needed for each job is available.
  5. Verify that all the correct Press Cards are at the presses and that each operator completes the production report.
  6. Record any unresolved production difficulties in your shift report to the Senior Foreman.
  7. Complete all relevant SAP entries.
  8. Ensure all containers are correctly loaded for each shift as required.
  9. Resolve issues regarding compound stock and liaise with the materials handler.
  10. When working day shift, ensure all material needed for the night shift is present.
Candidate Requirements
  • Grade 12 with Maths.
  • Any Mechanical qualifications or similar qualification would be an advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of rubber moulding procedures.
  • Supervisory and labour relations skills.
  • Knowledge of disciplinary procedures.
  • Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage.
  • Experience operating presses in a rubber manufacturing environment (2 years).
  • Supervisory responsibilities in a manufacturing environment (3 years).
