JOB DESCRIPTION: Legal and Compliance Lead - Midrand, Gauteng

Are you an admitted attorney? Our international client is looking for a Legal & Compliance Lead in Midrand, Gauteng. Your role will involve providing legal advice and support across all areas of the business, including contracts, joint ventures, acquisitions/disposals, and disputes. Experience in compliance, including competition law, anti-bribery, and AML, is highly valued.

Salary: Negotiable – Highly competitive

Minimum Requirements:

  1. LLB Degree or similar law-related degree.
  2. Must be an admitted attorney or advocate of the Bar (non-negotiable).
  3. A postgraduate diploma/certificate or master’s degree in law or business is highly desirable.
  4. 5+ years of post-admission experience in a reputable legal firm.
  5. 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the legal department of a multinational corporation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing high-quality legal advice and analysis on all areas of company business.
  2. Drafting, interpreting, and negotiating company contracts, letters, filings, and other documentation.
  3. Ensuring implementation and adherence to all relevant company policies (e.g., Anti-Corruption, Data Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Antitrust, and Social Compliance).
  4. Coordinating the implementation and maintenance of an effective Compliance Management System in accordance with corporate requirements and local laws.
