Job description

RPO Recruitments client is urgently seeking the expertise of a Chrome Specialist in Metallurgy in Gauteng. The successful candidate will assist operations with site optimisation projects, data analysis, test work, and R&D projects. They will also support the technical management of processing plants and ensure effective technical operation within the defined processing recipes and optimisation of recipes.

Responsibilities :

1. Mineral balances and metallurgical accounting
2. Reserve and resource reporting evaluation
3. Support technical management of processing plants and ensure effective operations within the recipes
4. Implement and maintain technical standards and procedures in plant
5. Perform metallurgical test work and initiate technical projects to optimise plant performance
6. Lead and participate in process design and commissioning activities
7. Assist with production debottlenecking, troubleshooting, and cost optimisation
8. Conduct feasibility studies
9. Supervise metallurgical test work, commissioning, and R&D projects
10. Analyse metallurgical process trends
11. Coordinate benchmarking data and compile reports
12. Conduct investigations and compile operational review reports
13. Conduct plant trials, external test work, and onsite optimisation initiatives

Requirements :

1. Grade 12
2. BTech Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
3. Postgraduate qualification (advantageous)
4. 7-10 years post-qualification experience in chrome recovery plants, specifically in chrome beneficiation
5. Knowledge of metallurgy production processes and flows
6. Experience with chrome separation processes
